Community
Community
There have been many words for this, and many expressions and examples of it. Sometimes called fellowship or family, it remains an important part of the Christian journey.
It is said that there are three B's to being christian - Believe, Belong, Behave.
Community is an important part of, and a natural outworking of our belonging.
We gather a a community to worship. to celebrate the love God has for us, to share the joy God has brought to us, and to learn more about the God who love us, and to listen to what God would have us do, and we scatter as a witnessing agent into our community to share something of the love that God has for all.
Community Focussed
There is a sense in which the Church is a community. Indeed we can refer to it as the community of faith, and it is an inclusive community that stretches bother around the world and through all ages. Paul reminds us
For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.
Romans 12:-4-5
At the same time we are members of a wider community, the world which God loves, and we are called to service in the world. As such as Christians we exercise a dual citizenship, and celbrate this diversity.
